As ever Amazon seems to be around the most competitive on pricing with the best selection in stock. But no doubt most retailers will be hitting the same price area as set by the manufacturer. To me it looks like the Toshiba Excite 10 will make a few sit up and listen to the company who have been lagging in the tablet market to date. Let’s take a look at some of the manufacturers specs on the tablet.

Boasting an aluminum hull, this tablet format digital 10.1 inch ad just 7.7 millimeters thick and barely 535 grams on the scale.

Led by a dual processor by Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 heart clocked at a frequency of 1.2 GHz, it operates under Android 3.2 Honeycomb and you can benefit by running an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

It offers a multitouch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, an audio system with two speakers, a wireless network connection Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity and Bluetooth 2.1 / USB 2.0 / HDMI / mini jack for devices.

It also incorporates a 5 megapixel sensor / 080p on the back for a photo and video and a 2 megapixel sensor in front for video conferencing, internal memory of 16 GB or 32GB and a microSD / microSDHC slot to accommodate data.

the PureView technology in the Nokia 808 allows it to carry a 41 megapixel camera but not really for taking pictures at full resolution (even if it were possible to take pictures of 38 megapixels) but rather to take and enhance details of images without loss of quality, usually for pictures of 2 to 8 megapixels. The camera can also shoot in 1080p and has a display 4″ AMOLED 640 x 360 pixels, with WiFi connectivity (DLNA support), Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, NFC (Near Field Communications), Dolby 5.1 and microphone output HDMI.

The smartphone uses the Symbian OS, Belle version, and will therefore benefit from the latest version with improvements in terms of ergonomics, reactivity and an increased number of home screens allowed.

Much like the Nokia N9 Maemo, the manufacturer has chosen to market this product because of the developments already in progress and brutal strategic changes. This innovation, in addition to the optical quality provided by long-time partner Carl Zeiss, led to an atypical camera smartphone. PureView technology will also be offered later on Nokia Windows smartphones. The Nokia 808 PureView also won the award for the Best Mobile at MWC 2012.

Nokia announced that the marketing of this atypical model begins in May, starting with the Indian and Russian markets, before expanding gradually to Europe and beyond.

You need new modules for your computer servers, but you refuse to pay full price for them. You have a bottom line to worry about, and paying $2,000 for the latest transceiver seems outrageous. Still, you need something to help interface the motherboards to the communication cable. You refuse to buy from the manufacturer directly to avoid paying the hefty price involved. Instead, you look for third-party dealers to help you find what you are after. If you’re looking to save, you might want to keep these tips in mind to help you along the way.

Never Buy the Newest Model

Newer transceivers always are 10-20% more expensive than their older counterparts. Sure, older models may not be able to replicate the new model’s capabilities, but they come close. Buying last year’s model can save you hundreds, and you can find affordable deals on new transceivers from a year ago. Spend your money more smartly and look at the features of a model from a year ago. Make a note of all its capabilities and determine if last year’s model will fit your networking needs. If not, then buy a new one.

Buy on Sale

Third-party vendors make huge sales around holidays. When the holiday season passes, they are pressed to find buyers to look at their inventory of GBIC modules, SFP transceivers, and whatever else they have in stock. During the dry months of January, February, and March, companies are pitching big deals to get customers to buy something. If you can afford to wait, you might want to consider buying a new set of transceivers around this time to save a few extra dollars.

Buy Items Together

Some online businesses will reward buyers who purchase multiple items together. Online retailers love to reward their customer bases, especially those customers that need several different networking products. The hard part is finding retailers who sell your 2X modules,  media converters and fiber optic patches and give you discounts for them. Even if they don’t offer a discount, at least they’ll throw in some type of incentive to sweeten the deal, such as free shipping or an extended warranty on all products.

Shopping for new transceivers does not have to put a hole in your wallet. You just have to spend some time searching for a quality dealer who sells the products that fit your needs at prices you feel are fair.

Design and ergonomics of the Xperia Ray

Ok, so her dress is made of 100% plastic, but the phone does have a rather elegant look. It is lightweight (100g) yet contains a wide feel, and very pleasant to take control of. Will the fairer sex be attracted to the device? Yes, its sleek look sways away from smartphones and their XXL “testosterone” design. But from my standpoint, this smartphone is rather neutral: it boasts an attractive template.

At first glance, the finish is correct overall but I have noted, however, three small things. First, the back cover appears fragile. Obviously, it does not need to be removed every day – but it will do to get out the memory card and remove the battery … impractical – its extreme fineness makes this cover too soft. Nest, on the edges of the screen just hang your thumb when you scroll through the menu images: the screen has a slight hook. Lastly the point for recharge is not protected: dust and crumbs won’t hesitate to get in there.

The screen of 3.3 inches (854 x 480 pixels) displays at open angles, a correct contrast and accurate color throughout. I’ve noted however a slight dominance of blue.

Interface and Navigation

Flanked by the fully practical user interface developed by Sony Ericsson, Xperia Ray is very pleasant for everyday use. Direct access to contacts and social networks via the content aggregator, but also for multimedia files. It’s less extensive than say the interface of the HTC Sense.

Navigation is fluid and the terminal shows up bright. During my “tests” I didn’t notice any slowdown either. The overlay software supported by the processor is well integrated and doesn’t fail.

A great pocket camera!

Shout it out loud!! The Xperia Ray is an excellent camera phone. Its Exmor R CMOS sensor camera of 8 megapixels is fast and responsive to recording images, delivers great pictures, clean, sharp (more than those issued by the Xperia Arc), well detailed, especially in the center area. However, there is some slight “noise” in the blacks. It surpasses the Arc and I think does a bit better than the Galaxy S2 (also at 8 Mpixels) under certain conditions (low light, for example). This is clearly a great pocket camera, a good tool to capture slices of life on the fly!

With phone, multmedia use sustained and Wi-Fi connected three-quarters of the time, the Xperia Ray battery held up for a good day and a half. This score is about the average of current smartphones. All in all, still a great buy in my opinion.

A little disappointed though as I expected a 2560 x 1600 screen. But the Super IPS Full HD+ Asus should provide pretty pictures (and still at 600 cd/m2). To accommodate this feature the tablet consumes more battery, Asus has added a Wh battery: up from from 22Wh on the Prime to 25Wh. The weight remains unchanged at 586g which is ok. The other main change on the Asus Transformer Infinity affects the processor, Asus has not opted for simplicity this time. On the WiFi only version of the Infinity Nvidia Tegra SoC will carry a 3 like the Prime Transformer. This will be a faster version of T33 1.6 GHz (1.3 GHz in comparison to the Prime), Nvidia and TSMC has clearly increased within the production of Tegra 3. The Asus Infinity will be released in two versions with 3G connectivity or 3G/LTE. This variant will use Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC MSM8260A or MSM8960 S4, which is dual core at 1.5 GHz. Given the first benchmark set of the MSM8960 the Infinity 3G will be more efficient than WiFi. Both however, will provide a similar “user experience”.

Transforming the Transformer Infinity is full HD (instead of 1280 × 720) and GPS (while for the Prime Transformer you have to ask for free accessories).

The Asus Transformer Infinity will be high end with a 64GB version on WiFi only, no keyboard, like the Transformer Prime it replaces. However, for the premium you will be able to add the keyboard, the price can be justified by a bigger battery. It’s reported that the Asus Transformer Infinity will be available from June 10th.

After the Eee Pad Transformer tablet this new model Eee Pad Slider is finally out and selling like hot cakes around the globe. It’s an ambitious model, 10.1″ 1280 x 800 pixel LED backlight (IPS and Corning Gorilla glass), which has a full keyboard hidden in the back of the unit and uses a slider by a hinge. Asus Slider Eee Pad offers the ergonomics of a tablet with the convenience of a keyboard for typing, all in a format midway between tablet and netbook. This of course affects its thickness (16.5mm) and weight (990g) but it gives an atypical evolution of the market in mobile devices.

The Asus Slider includes WiFi wireless connectivity and Bluetooth, a 2 Nvidia Tegra processor with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (and microSD port), a 1.2 megapixel camera on front for video conferencing and a 5 megapixel camera on the back.

Asus Slider Eee Pad tablet also loads USB and mini HDMI ports. Asus has added Polaris Office Pack 3.0 preinstalled for editing documents, for a professional audience. The manufacturer also offers Asus WebStorage, storage space and unlimited free for a year

The Asus Eee Pad Slider is first released running on Android 3.1 Honeycomb and will receive the Android 3.2 update later. Asus exclusive applications loaded are MyNet (streaming content), myCloud (remote access to a computer) or MyLibrary (ebooks and digital magazines) while it’s possible to access the Android Apps Market for more.

The tablet gives you up to 8 hours of battery life via its 3700 mAh 3-cell battery.

Its 10.1-inch screen (resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels) remains in continuity and above all the A510 loses the USB 2.0 port that mattered a lot to the attractiveness of the older model.

Processor side on the Acer Iconia A510 you will find the latest Tegra 3 1.3 GHz Nvidia, with its 4 cores accompanied by a heart Companion for basic actions. RAM 1GB is offered along with a micro-USB port, the headphone jack 3.5 mm, a microSD slot (up to 32GB additional) and micro-HDMI output. Blutetooth 2.1 and WiFi b / g / n ensures wireless connectivity and no 3G model is officially unveiled yet.

Photo and video capture is provided by a 5-megapixel main camera with a video mode providing 1080p, while a 1.3 megapixel webcam is positioned on the front. Versions 16, 32 and 64GB have been discussed, but the model for the time being is at 32 GB. At $450 the Acer Iconia A510 Tab is a great machine at a great price.

Format is a 10.1-inch netbook in which Acer uses a dual processor Intel Atom N2600 heart clocked at 1.60 GHz and coupled to a RAM 1GB DDR3 and a HD 3600 graphics solution with Intel shared memory (drawn in system memory).

It offers a display in a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels (WSVGA), VGA / HDMI for connecting an external monitor, a stereo system with two speakers, a headphone jack and network links wired Fast Ethernet / homeless Wi-Fi N.

It also has a hard drive with a capacity of 320GB which runs at 5400 rpm, a memory card reader MMC / SD, three USB 2.0 ports and a VGA webcam + mic audio-video chat.

I don’t have many details on the autonomy. I only know that it will be covered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion 3 or 6 cells.

It wasn’t a coincidence that the Nokia 5230 was announced jointly in Finland and India. It’s affordable price made it a touchscreen smartphone running Symbian S60 5th Edition which was priced to be available to as many people as possible.

Packed with a 3.2″ touch screen display, integrated keyboard and handwriting recognition, also an HSDPA capable phone featuring a 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth wireless connectivity (but no WiFi).

Nokia 5230 came with music entertainment!.. the Nokia 5230 features a-GPS module allowing it to take advantage of location-based services (Ovi Maps preinstalled), a microSDHC memory card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Because this phone was built to be dedicated to music it offered up to 33 hours of audio playback and applications compatible with the Ovi Store (the download portal of Nokia mobile applications) accessible from the smartphone’s home menu.

There is still no identified source for the distribution of the latest rumors about the touch pad that Google Android is supposed to be releasing soon to counter the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.

The Verge website reports, however, that its launch was postponed from May to July to make some changes to lower the cost. The rumors have always suggested a price of around $199 or less, and for the model developed in partnership with Asus board and display at 7″ and an Nvidia Tegra 3 is currently set to $249 dollars.

Failing to counter the Kindle Fire, Google can always hope to win against the perennial rumor of the iPad Mini 7.85″ which is stated to be reconfirmed as a prototype in the labs of Apple but still not marketable.

Asus count for a lot on this tablet although it will probably be sold directly online by Google, which wants to take in hand the distribution and selling of the Nexus after the errors of previous distribution.
