Under pressure from U.S. authorities, Apple will explicitly ask for permission before allowing an application to dip into personal data stored on an iPhone.

Social networks encourage us to share our data and several exchange programs want information to inform our friends that share the same interests or are located nearby. A small jump into our address book greatly simplifies the process by identifying a few seconds the names and phone numbers of people likely to interest us. But while quickening this mountain of information, businesses connected to these iPhones “allowed themselves” to download the contents of the address book on their own server.

The public relations fiasco exploded in the face of Apple a few weeks ago when the company Path was caught in the act by a programmer who watched the Singapore system activities of its iPhone. Arun Thampi noticed to his surprise that his book addresses were sent one by one without having anything on. He quickly identified the application Path as the origin of these transfers were made without his knowledge and without any encryption or encoding.

Path has been cleared all data from its servers and apologized to its customers last week, vowing never to have used the data for its own features. Path software is very popular and appreciated by its users, it lets you share affinities and preferences among its users, similar to Facebook.

The U.S. Congress was very clear, the privacy policies of Apple will be set and strictly followed to ensure the privacy of citizens. The software can still retrieve personal information but the acceptance must be explicit for each application.

Path is an application for iPhone and Android that allows you to “share your life with those you love” through a sort of mini-social network designed to flood your friends exciting details about your private life, as “the place where you are” , “with who you are”, “new cities you are going to,” “the time you wake up” and “your sleep schedule.”. Many people benefit from this information, Path encourages the user to establish as much contact as possible. It sends, for example, an e-mail every time “your friends and family join Path”.

How do they know? It’s simple: as was discovered rummaging through the files of the application, Path scans the phone book of users immediately after installation. All the names, email addresses and phone numbers saved on the device. Then it sends the database servers to Path, which it stores. “I did not remember giving permission Path to access my address book” some have said… So I created a brand new account and I made the same observation: my directory has ended up in the hands of Path. The application has become a host-phone, without asking permission or even displaying any warning.

The issue was quickly discovered on Path: after the first wave of outraged protests on Twitter posted by users of Path CEO Dave Morin apologized in due form on the company blog: “Thanks to feedback we received from you, we now understand that the feature “Add Friends” was unreasonable. We are deeply sorry if you were bothered by the operation of your directory. “In the same vein, he announces that its servers removed the entire address books sucked into its memory, and offers you to now download a new version of Path, which is more transparent. “In Path 2.0.6, you can choose or not to send us your phone contacts. If you accept and change your mind later, send us an email and we process your request quickly. ”

If Path was honestly caught with this blunder, media coverage of the case helped raise some awkward questions about how the AppStore, the market for iPhone apps behaves. At no time – or by reading the application form or at the time of download – is the user informed of the “rights” it requires. On the Android Market, to the contrary, the list of permissions requested by an application is clear, and in great detail, before downloading.

Windows smartphone the Nokia Lumia 800 opened the Nokia World event in London late last year and allowed Nokia to specify their mobile strategy and detail its plans for consecutive rapprochement with Microsoft, the Finnish manufacturer unveiled its first two smartphones running Windows Phone Mango, inaugurating the range of Lumia.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is none other than the Nokia Sea Ray, already seen several times in recent months. With a capacitive touch display 3.7 “800 x 480 pixel AMOLED technology and ClearBlack, whose surface is curved, it features a 1.4 GHz processor Qualcomm MSM8255 with 512 MB of RAM and an internal storage of 16 GB

The device has a camera on the back 8 megapixel with Carl Zeiss optics and the ability to record 720p video. Dimensions of 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm 142 g, the Nokia Lumia 800 embarks WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, (A-GPS navigation software with turn by turn Nokia Drive), the Micro-USB connectors and headphone jack and sensors: accelerometer, magnetometer, light sensors and proximity.

Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone also has quadband GSM / EDGE and Quadband 3G / HSDPA 14.4 Mbps / HSUPA 5.76 Mbps. Faithful to the principles of Nokia, it does not skimp on the autonomy provided with 13 hours GSM talk or 9.5 hours 3G talk, more than 300 hours of standby or 55 hours continuous audio playback.

The Nokia Lumia 800 will be available in three colors (black, cyan, magenta) and rather attractive price offered for its position, or € 499 all taxes, except subsidies operators, for availability as early as November 2011.

On board, there is of course Windows Phone Mango, with its own services (Xbox Live, SkyDrive and 25 GB of online storage, Internet Explorer 9, Outlook Mobile) but also Nokia services like Nokia Music Drive Mix and Radio.

Apple announced the new version of its Mac operating system to be launched at the end of summer. Mountain Lion will bring features from IOS. The U.S. computer manufacturer Apple on Thursday launched the ninth version of its Mac OS X operating system, interestingly named OS X Mountain Lion, which borrows applications including the popular iPad tablet computer.

In a statement, Apple explained that Mountain Lion brings to Mac applications messaging, notes, reminders and games of the iPad, as well as the notification center, Twitter integration and the AirPlay feature mirroring, which allows wirelessly stream music on a television or a stereo from an iPod or iPad.

“Mountain Lion is the first version of OS X designed with in mind the icloud”, the storage system of content online from Apple, the statement said.

“Mac users can move the system from the [online store] Mac App Store in late summer 2012,” notes the group.

OS X Mountain Lion does not mark a revolution in visuals or ergonomics, this is simply an evolution of an existing operating system. Mainly you will find it only improves the user experience.

Back in 2010 Nokia N8 was launched and to this day is still a much loved smartphone. Running on Symbian 3, it was a major development for Nokia at the time. According to Nokia the name N8 indicates that the model belongs to the family of Nseries multimedia phones and it fits in rather upscale. And equipment side, the Nokia N8 is fairly well equipped. Since then the company has brought us the Nokia N9 which is worth checking out too.

The contribution of Symbian ^ 3 allows it to integrate a capacitive multi-touch display 3.5 “640 x 360 pixels housed in a shell dimensions 113.5 x 59.12 x 12.9 mm 135 g. It ships 16 GB of internal memory and a microSDHC memory card slot, to add up to 32GB extra, and 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.

Nokia N8On the Nokia N8 back, there is a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics (with opening f2, and Xenon flash. The Nokia N8 has wireless connectivity WiFi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth 2.1 and a-GPS module and FM Radio / FM transmitter. Side connections, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB 2.0 port, but also an HDMI port that will connect the unit to a flat screen.

This is a quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE and pentabande (!) UMTS / WCDMA (to cover all regions of the world: 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz). Note the presence of a 1200 mAh battery that provides up to 12 hours of GSM talk time or approximately 6 h on 3G and up to 400 hours standby.

It will also record video in 3:20, to watch for 7 h (6 h or projection via HDMI) or listen to music for 50 h. You can enjoy your recordings in HD video and Dolby Digital Surround More.

Note that the Nokia N8 provides access to Web TV channels broadcast by several large companies and accessible from the home screen.

Nokia N8 – Was The Leader Of The Pack

With the Nokia N8, the Finnish manufacturer launched a new interface that is more user friendly based on the Qt environment that enables the rapid development of dedicated applications.

The interface features a touch screen mono-or multi-touch and has three customizable home screens. Nokia also announced a more responsive experience thanks to a new graphics architecture and components associated with better graphics acceleration.

Nokia N8 makes you forget the burdens and limitations of the touch interface of Symbian S60 5th Edition. In addition, Symbian ^ 3 supports the management of multitasking and will run multiple applications in the background (but like the Nokia N900, careful not to saturate the memory, otherwise you’ll get delays).

The ultimate multimedia smartphone, that will consult and update your status on social networks from the home page.

Last year Nokia unveiled its first smartphone using the MeeGo operating system with the Nokia N9. People waited a long time for this offering.

Finnish manufacturer of the Nokia N9 promised a first MeeGo smartphone in 2010, following the announcement of its partnership with Intel to build this mobile platform that would fuel high-end specification. They didn’t disappoint, as since then this smartphone has gone on to be one of the strongest sellers for the company.

From summer 2010, a mysterious leak on Nokia N9 began to circulate. Stephen Elop, CEO of the group, gave evidence by announcing at the Nokia Connection event the Nokia N9 (codenamed Lankku), the first smartphone running MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan and positioning itself in the high end market. This is a terminal with an AMOLED touchscreen display 3.9 “resolution of 854 x 480 pixels (and resistant Gorilla glass).

So To The Specs Of The Nokia N9

Nokia N9 02DE dimensions 116 x 61 x 7.6 (for the thinnest part) to 12.1 mm (the side of the photo sensor) only 135 grams, the Nokia N9 embeds wireless connectivity WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and NFC.

It is compatible HSPA 14.4 Mbps / HSUPA 5.72 Mbps and features 16 to 64 GB of storage space. Inside, the TI OMAP3630 processor is a 1GHz (ARM Cortex-A8) with SGX530 PowerVR graphics processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM, which is probably sign that the design has been slow to find their way to the marketing of the product.

On the back is an 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and high performance wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture which looks for ways to get clean shots even when lighting conditions are not ideal, but still with dual LED flash. The pictures can then be shared via NFC function. On the front, there is also a camera for video conferencing.

The Nokia N9 is also distinguished by its colored polycarbonate shell, one piece and surrounding the AMOLED screen it is slightly curved and allows you to use a gestural touch called “swipe” where one touches the screen side to side to access content.

The MeeGo interface has three home screens each with their own theme: applications, open applications and events (contacts, media and events on one screen) and embeds the icon set released with Symbian Anna.

Finally, the Web browser uses the engine Webkit2, can view multiple Web pages and support HTML5 for sites with rich web applications. As often with Nokia, autonomy is no exception: up to 11 hours GSM talk time and 7 hours 3G talk, or 50 hours continuous audio playback.

The Nokia N9 also embeds the various departments of Nokia (Ovi Store, Ovi Music, Ovi Maps …) and incorporates some social networking applications like Facebook or Twitter.

The Galaxy S3 will not be unvieled at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona at the end of February. Shame, as many are waiting with baited breath for this release, including me!

We knew Samsung would be less visible than in previous years at MWC. Even if the manufacturer will present new products – the Galaxy Advance will be unveiled – the flagship of the Galaxy, the S3, will not be presented at this high mass mobility. It will be unveiled at a special event in the spring, shortly before its commercial release in June.

They are obviously looking for not too far a gap from the announcemen to availability on the shelves for purchase. Similar with the media when the iPhone 5 should be unveiled by Apple.

About the technical specifications, Samsung did not specify. The rumors indicate a 4.6 inch screen and a 12 megapixel camera sensor. The terminal will be released with version 4.0 (ICS) to Android.

This decision to delay is justified by Samsung to shorten the time between the presentation of the handset and marketing. The Galaxy S3 would go on sale before the summer, but perhaps not in April. This extra time could also be explained by the choice of equipping the Samsung S3 SoC Exynos 5250, using a faster architecture Cortex A15, whose production volume will start in the second quarter of 2012.

The Galaxy S3 will be the latest in this range from Samsung. Lately the Galaxy Note and S2 have been flying off the shelves around the globe. Samsung will be making sure they have this model right, and the release is scheduled in such a way that precision timing is achieved for maximizing sales.

PNGEn seeing land the giant Samsung smartphone, the Galaxy Rating, many have questioned the claim that there could be a mobile with a screen as large (5.3 “or 13.5 cm diagonal). It is certainly the first time that a terminal of this size is sold, but previous efforts have not attracted the crowds. remains with the strike force and Samsung the interest of the general public for its Galaxy range, the Note is a product that manages to win.

Indeed, I’ve heard that the Korean manufacturer has sold more than 700,000 copies just to his native land, which is impressive. And late December, two months after its release, the Galaxy Rating 1 million had been delivered. Launching a white version at the moment is in fact orchestrated to maintain good sales volume. With its use of tablet-phone, equipped with a stylus, the Galaxy Note has seduced and could pave the way for some competitors eager for new markets.

See a lack of land access to applications from the App Store on the Apple TV, developers have come up with a hack called Mobilex that displays iPhone and iPad applications in full screen via the housing.

Mobilex is presented as a window manager to resize iOS providing mobile applications in 720p. The device uses various tricks to add to the Apple TV entry systems and provides menus to close applications, launch Safari, to ensure the WiFi connection, or to view multiple applications simultaneously via Apple Remote function.

Mobilex is still under development and not yet available in final version. He asked to go through the jailbreak Apple TV Sais0nPass to be functional. The developers have released a video in which they show the operation of the Facebook app for iPad in full screen, as well as specific applications from Apple

It’s time for the Phablet!. A mash up on wording between phone and tablet, or to put it better “tabletphones”. Yes it’s a hybrid, sized between the Galaxy cell phone range and tablet releases and we think it’s going ot do big things..

The Galaxy Note Phablet is actually a large Galaxy S II which has a Super AMOLED HD screen of 5.3 inch (1280 x 800). Small enough to be used as a phone and large enough to be comfortable to use as a tablet, the Galaxy Note Phablet also utlizes a stylus to navigate, draw and of course write.

It features a Qualcomm processor running at 1.4 Ghz, 16 or 32 GB of internal memory and two photo sensors with an 8-megapixels camera. It’s powered by Android 2.3 (powered by Gingerbread and not Ice Cream sandwich, a shame!) supported by the TouchWiz overlay (like all the Galaxy series). Weight is around 178 grams.

Although small it’s still a decent size to get stuck into the touch area with your fingers, however the stylus gives you another option for use. Suddenly I think I’m going to feel like a kid with a Nintendo 3DS!!..

The Galaxy S series has really taken off over this last year, and now with the introduction of a medium size device it opens up a new market. Those who want something larger than a small phone to work with, yet do not want to trawl around with a large tablet device in thir bags. Great thinking Samsung and thanks for the “Galaxy Phablet“!
